The author wanted to write about how makeup had an impact on expression in the 70’s and how it can be used in the same way now. Makeup was important for the author and we wanted to really focus on self-expression and how it can be used in movements. We also wanted to be able to show how the looks have transformed throughout the years using photos of people who lived through and embodied the movements she went over by recreating them with a modern twist.
I was tasked with desinging this article and from the start me and the writer knew we wanted to be very ambitous. It was hard to bring her vision to life but after I picked that hot pink color we knew we were on the right path.
She was also very set on doing makeup to show how we've adapted these styles today. Timing was really hard to get down for that and we ended up having to do my makeup 2 times because we weren't satisfied with our first try.
